MLB Picks and Predictions:
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants
Wed May 1, 9:45 PM EDT @ Oracle Park, San Franciso
The Giants-Dodgers rivalry in baseball can only be rivalled by Yankees – Red Sox rivalry. It began almost a century ago when both teams played in the New York Metropolitan Area. As faith had it both teams ended up on the west coast in the State of California in two cities that are bitter rivals in many aspects only deepening the rivalry and ill feeling of the fanbases towards the other.
The San Francisco Giants Form
The San Francisco Giants are back in the negative record wise after an attempt at relevancy last year where they signed several high profiled veterans which ultimately underachieved leaving the team to decide what to do. They didn’t go all in on the rebuild but they decided to compete with what little assets they had. Currently, they have a 12-17 record which is the worst in their division. Things aren’t too bad but considering their best pitcher who is set to start in this one has 1-4 record things are quite bad in Silicon Valley.
The Los Angeles Dodgers Form
The Dodgers, on the other hand, are really good which was expected. What wasn’t expected was the fact that Cody Bellinger had an iconic April never seen in Baseball before and he is an early favourite to win the NL MVP if he keeps this up and that is a big if? Others players are lacking behind which is scary considering that if those other players step up this Dodgers team could be unbelievably good as the amount of talent they possess is ridiculous. The starter in this one should be Hyun-Jin Ryu who is having a great season with a 3-1 record and a 2.96 ERA.
Dodgers – Giants Past Meetings
These two teams faced each other 4 times already with both teams winning one. Despite the Dodgers being clearly the better team, such a record is not a surprise because fierce rivalries in baseball always deliver tight matches and series. Such was the case this times as all 4 matches have been decided by 2 or fewer runs. The weather forecast is positive so we should have a great game in stores as both teams will field their best pitchers on the roster. Oracle Park in San Francisco is a hitter’ friendly park which will greatly benefit the Dodgers players especially Cody Bellinger who is enjoying an unbelievable season. The giants, on the other hand, haven’t got many great hitters so they will hugely rely on their pitcher do to a good job and go deep. The giants are a decent team at home with a 6-8 record while the Dodgers haven’t been great on the road with a 7-8 record.
Dodgers vs. Giants Prediction and Pick
When it comes to predicting this one it’s hard to argue how you couldn’t take the Dodgers in this one as they are simply the better team and have been really good against Baumgarner before. The weather should benefit them as well as the venue. When it comes to over / under bets value bets should be anywhere in the range of 4 to 7 runs but anything over that should be avoided as these teams rarely played high scoring matches before.
